  • a J774.1 cells (5 × 105 cells/ml of cell culture medium containing 2.5% heat-inactivated FBS and 1% DMSO) were stimulated without (medium) or with 50 μg/ml of the synthetic flavolipin, flavolipin stereoisomers, and flavolipin analogs for 18 h at 37°C. After stimulation, TNF-α activity in the culture supernatants was determined as L929 cell-cytolytic activity (12 ). The activity is expressed as the dilution of the sample causing 50% cell lysis (1 U).
