Effect of poly (I:C) treatment on the yield of L4 larvae from NOD/LtSz-scid/scidmicea

  • a The columns represent the treatments administered to two groups of NOD/LtSz-scid/scid mice, the numbers of mice used, the L4 larval yields as percentages of L3 larvae injected in each mouse in the group, and the mean ± SD for the groups. Two groups of NOD/LtSz-scid/scid mice were injected with 50 L3 larvae i.p. One group received 100 μg of poly(I:C) administered i.p. every other day for the duration of the experiment. All mice were necropsied at 2 wk, and the L4 recovery was determined. The recovery of L4 worms from the poly(I:C)-treated group was significantly different from that in the untreated group (p < 0.05). This dose of poly(I:C) had been previously shown to induce optimal NK cell activity in NOD/LtSz-scid/scid mice (14 ).
