On the cover: H&E stained image of Trypanosoma cruzi–infected skeletal muscle following doxycycline-induced MHC class I overexpression. Initially, overexpression specifically in skeletal muscle increases CD8+ T cell surveillance and in vivo effector function and significantly reduces infection intensity. However, prolonged overexpression (>30 d) compromises systemic parasite control in a PD-L1–dependent manner. Pack, A. D., and R. L. Tarleton. 2020. Cutting edge: augmenting muscle MHC expression enhances systemic pathogen control at the expense of T cell exhaustion. J. Immunol. 205: 573–578.
