McDermott, D. S. and S. M. Varga. 2011. Quantifying antigen-specific CD4 T cells during a viral infection: CD4 T cell responses are larger than we think. J. Immunol. 187: 5568–5576.
In the legend for Fig. 5, the sentence “Representative plots depict IFN-γ production between CD11aloCD49d− (top panels) and CD11ahiCD49d+ (bottom panels) CD4 T cells (CD4+CD90.2+)” should read “Representative plots depict IFN-γ production between CD11ahiCD49d+ (top panels) and CD11aloCD49d− (bottom panels) CD4 T cells (CD4+CD90.2+).”
Additionally, in Fig. 7, the y-axis was labeled incorrectly. The correct y-axis label is “% CD11ahiCD49d+ of CD4 T cells in PBL”. The corrected figure is shown on the previous page. The figure legend was correct as published and is shown on the previous page for reference. Fig. 7 and the legend for Fig. 5 have been corrected in the online version of the article, which now differs from the print version as originally published.
Tracking the kinetics and magnitude of the total LCMV-specific CD4 T cell response following infection. C57BL/6, BALB/c and Swiss Webster mice were infected i.p. with LCMV, and PBLs were obtained at 0, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 15, 35, and 60 d postinfection. The percentage of CD11ahiCD49d+ CD4 T cells (CD4+CD90.2+) was examined in C57BL/6 (A), BALB/c (B), and Swiss Webster mice (C). Combined results are shown from two independent experiments with 17–18 mice per group.
