On the cover: Odorant binding protein 1a is an important autoantigen in autoimmune dacryoadenitis. Spontaneous autoimmunity in Aire-deficient mice targets a number of different organs, including the lacrimal glands. Transfer of T lymphocytes from Aire-deficient mice stimulated with odorant binding protein 1a fusion protein results in lacrimal gland autoimmunity, as demonstrated by a massive lymphocytic infiltration into the lacrimal glands and destruction of normal tissue architecture (shown).
