Abstract
On DEAE-cellulose column chromatography, two fractions were obtained from mouse plasma. One made EA(IgM)C42 reactive to human erythrocytes but not to Daudi cells, a cultured cell line derived from Burkitt lymphoma. The addition of the other fraction to these intermediate complexes of complement on cells diminished adherence to human erythrocytes but generated adherence to Daudi cells. From these results we conclude that the receptors on human erythrocytes and on Daudi cells react differently with the intermediate complexes of complement.
