On the cover: Whole-mount anti-PECAM-1 immunostaining showing early vasculature degeneration in the mouse embryo (E11) yolk sac due to caspase-8 deletion in endothelial cells by Cre/loxP recombination. Such nonapoptotic (or perhaps antiapoptotic) functions of caspase-8, in addition to its crucial participation in death induction, are also revealed after caspase-8 deletion in other cell types.
