About the Cover

Cover Figure

On the cover: In normal skin, microorganisms stimulate keratinocytes to produce antimicrobial molecules such as human defensin (HBD)-2, HBD-3, and NO. In atopic skin, IL-4 and IL-13 inhibit production of HBD-2, HBD-3, and NO leading to lower killing activity against microorganisms. These events may allow microbes to grow in the Th2 environment of AD skin. Nomura et al.
