On the cover: IL-18 is present in synovitis in rheumatoid arthritis. In an IL-18-dependent model of collagen-induced arthritis, MK-866, a LTB4 synthesis inhibitor, significantly suppressed development of arthritis. this H&E microsection shows suppressed synovitis and preservation of articular structure following MK-866 administration. Control mice exhibited extensive synovial hypertrophy, infiltration, and cartilage destruction. Cannetti et al. IL-18 enhances collagen-induced arthritis by recruiting neutrophils via TNF-
and Leukotriene B4. J. Immunol. 171:1009.)
