In Materials and Methods, under the heading, Preparation of cultures of mouse brain microglia, the concentrations for streptomycin and mercaptoethanol were published incorrectly. The correct sentence is shown below.
Glial cultures were prepared as follows: cells were dissociated from the cerebral cortex of 1-day-old C57BL/6 mice, carefully removing meninges tissue, and were cultured in poly-D-lysine-coated tissue culture flasks (two brains per 85-cm2 flask) in medium supplemented with DMEM, 4 mM L-glutamine, 50 U/ml penicillin, 50 µg/ml streptomycin, 10 mM HEPES, 1 mM sodium pyruvate, 10 mM nonessential amino acids, 57.2 µM 2-ME (Sigma-Aldrich, St. Louis, MO), and 10% FCS.
