The Effect of Endotoxin on Skin Homografts in Rabbits1

Salah Al-Askari2, B. Zweiman, H. S. Lawrence3 and L. Thomas

From the Departments of Urology and Medicine, New York University School of Medicine, New York, New York

Abstract

1. Administration of endotoxin to rabbits results in the accelerated rejection of first-set skin homografts.
2. The production of endotoxin tolerance suspends this effect of endotoxin on first-set skin homografts.
3. This action of endotoxin is limited to homografts and does not affect autografts.
