Abstract

Antisera reacting specifically with 6.6 S {gamma}, beta2A, or {gamma}1M antigenic determinants or with type I or II common {gamma}-globulin determinants were prepared on the basis of current understanding of the immunochemical structure of {gamma}-globulin molecules.

Purified {gamma}-globulin components were necessary for the preparation and testing of specific antisera. Therefore, methods for preparing and characterizing 6.6 S {gamma}-globulins, beta2A-globulins, and {gamma}1-macroglobulins from normal serum and myeloma proteins, {gamma}-macroglobulins, and Bence Jones proteins from appropriate serum and urine are described.
