Abstract
A heat-labile (56°C, 8 min) latex-fixation factor, designated a "heat-labile antiglobulin," was demonstrated in the water-insoluble euglobulin fractions obtained from normal human sera. This factor is not usually detected in samples of fresh normal whole sera by latex-fixation test because of the presence of a nonagglutinating heat-labile (56°C, 4 min) inhibitor that prevents the reaction of the antiglobulin with the Cohn Fraction II coating material on the latex particles. The antiglobulin was found to co-exist with rheumatoid factor in some of the euglobulin fractions obtained from apparently normal individuals, and to share many characteristics with a heat-labile antiglobulin previously described in normal rabbit sera.
