Abstract
- 1. By means of precipitation with ammonium sulfate, the major globulin and albumin fractions of thyroid extract have been isolated. The required levels of precipitant are, respectively, 1.60 to 1.70 M and 2.50 to 3.00 M. Each fraction seems highly purified by ultracentrifugal analysis.
- 2. The method is readily reproducible, and does not require any special equipment. It is adaptable to handling of large quantities of extract solution.
- 3. A new protein fraction of thyroid extract, thyralbumin, has been isolated and partially characterized.
