Quantitative Micro-Complement Fixation and Its Use in the Study of Antigenic Structure by Specific Antigen-Antibody Inhibition1

Eleanor Wasserman and Lawrence Levine

From the Graduate Department of Biochemistry, Brandeis University, Waltham, Massachusetts2

Abstract

1. A quantitative micromethod for the estimation of C' fixation is described. The method is capable of measuring antigens in millimicrogram quantities.
2. A use of the micro-C' fixation method is specifically illustrated by the quantitative inhibition of pneumococcus polysaccharide immune systems by oligosaccharides.
