Abstract
- 1. Soluble ovalbumin-rabbit antiovalbumin complexes gave immediate skin reactions in normal guinea pigs. Coprecipitating antibody and precipitating antibody were comparable, on a weight basis, with respect to their ability to form skin reactive complexes.
- 2. With regard to the skin reactivity of the soluble complexes composed of coprecipitating antibody, the complexes formed throughout the antibody excess region up to the region of moderate antigen excess were all reactive. The complexes formed in moderate antigen excess had the highest reactivity.
- 3. The complement-fixing potencies of the soluble complexes did not parallel their skin reactive properties. The complexes formed at the equivalence point had the highest complement-fixing activity.
- 4. Speculations concerning the nature of the skin reactive antigen-antibody complexes have been presented.
