Studies on Chick-Embryo-Adapted Rabies Virus

V. Protection of Animals with Antiserum and Living Attenuated Virus After Exposure to Street Strain of Rabies Virus

From Viral and Rickettsial Research, Lederle Laboratories Division, American Cyanamid Company, Pearl River, New York

Abstract

Results of protective antirabic treatment of dogs and guinea-pigs indicate that homologous antiserum administered 24 hours after exposure to street virus exercises a definite preventive effect. Still better results are obtained when administration of antiserum is followed by injection of living Flury virus. These findings are discussed in relation to serological evidence of immunity.
