The Hemagglutination Test for Rheumatoid Arthritis1

II. The Influence of Human Plasma Fraction II (gamma Globulin) on the Reaction

Abstract

Two serological reactions have been described. The first reaction involves the inhibition of the hemagglutination test for rheumatoid arthritis by including human plasma Fraction II as a reagent. In the second reaction, the serum from individuals with active peripheral rheumatoid arthritis specifically agglutinated tannic acid-treated sheep erythrocytes sensitized with Fraction II. The heterogenic relationship of the reactants involved as well as the antigen-antibody-like character of these reactions are discussed.
