Abstract
- 1. By a method of continuous intravenous infusion of bacteria combined with hepatic venous catheterization, the removal of bacteria from the blood circulating into the splanchnic area of the intact rabbit has been quantitated.
- 2. The interference of thorotrast with the subsequent removal of Micrococcus aureus from the blood stream of the rabbit is maximal 19 to 24 hours after the administration of thorotrast.
- 3. The mechanism by which thorotrast produces its blocking effect remains obscure.
