Study of an American Negro Family with the Rare Rh Genotype ryr (CdE/cde)

Somsak Phansomboon* and Otakar J. Pollak{dagger}

Abstract

1. The very rare genotype ryr (CdE/cde) is reported for the first time in a colored American family.
2. The probable frequency of the ry (CdE) gene among white and colored Americans is considered.
3. The manner of genetic transmission of the ry (CdE) gene is discussed.
4. A theoretical explanation for racial differences in the frequency of Rh negative persons is offered.
