Letters to the Editors

Abstract

The Editorial Board feels that there is a need, in this Journal, for opportunity for brief comment or discussion on matters which are pertinent and timely but which do not justify the presentation of a formal paper. The Board has therefore voted to allot not over four per cent of the total space of the Journal to publication of such communications, in the form of letters to the editors, the length of each such communication not to exceed two journal pages. Each communication will be submitted to a member of the Board for his approval and, if accepted, will be published as promptly as is practical. Communications representing original observations rather than comments or discussion will not be accepted under this heading, but will be handled as original papers in the usual manner.

This policy is being initiated with the following communication.
