A Skin-Test Antigen Common to Five Viruses of the Psittacosis-Lymphogranuloma Group

Lawrence Kilham

From the Department of Bacteriology and Immunology, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts

Abstract

1. Twenty-one rabbits were successfully infected in groups with the agents of psittacosis, meningopneumonitis, mouse pneumonitis, feline pneumonitis and lymphogranuloma.
2. With few exceptions, each group of rabbits gave positive cross reactions when skin-tested with yolk sac materials prepared with all 5 agents.
3. Such positive results were not obtained in uninoculated control animals similarly tested.
4. The sera from all of the inoculated rabbits showed complement fixing antibodies in the presence of one antigen, "Lygranum C.F."
