Wendell H. Hall and Wesley W. Spink1

Division of Internal Medicine, University of Minnesota Hospitals and Medical School, Minneapolis

Abstract

1. A method is described whereby the efficacy of therapeutic agents against Brucella may be ascertained by injection into the allantoic sac of the developing chick embryo.
2. The results of studies with streptomycin and several sulfonamides in shick embryos infected with Br. abortus and Br. suis are reported.
3. Sulfadiazine and streptomycin in combination were found to be more effective against Br. abortus and Br. suis in the infected chick embryo than either drug alone.
