The Predisposition for Immunity

E. Carlinfanti

From the Istituto Sieroterapico Italiano, Naples

Abstract

The curve obtained by plotting log titers of the individuals of a vaccinated population against incidence of titers is a curve of normal distribution. The titers of the antibodies produced by one subject in response to certain different antigens are correlated.

The genetical analysis of the capacity for producing isoantibodies has been carried through by means of correlation tables between the titers of the parents and those of the children. A high degree of correlation has been found in all instances; on the average these correlations are near the theoretical value (r = +0.5) to be expected if the antibody titers were controlled only by heredity in absence of dominance.
