II. THE KINETICS OF ANTIBODY-FORMATION

D. J. Salley and Raymond L. Libby

American Cyanamid Company, Stamford Research Laboratories

Abstract

A kinetic treatment of the production of antibody by antigen has been developed and applied to the data of Libby and Madison (2). It is shown that the rate of decomposition of antigen may be calculated from the complete antibody-time curve (for a second injection) and agreement obtained with a direct measurement of the rate of antigen-decomposition.

The general aspects of the kinetic method of approach to the antigen-antibody problem have been discussed.
