A. J. Weil and K. Farsetta

From the Lederle Laboratories, Inc., Pearl River, N. Y.

Abstract

Evidence in mouse protective tests is presented which in combination with previously reported tests in the chick embryo demonstrate that the subrace WX of Andrewes and Inman represents a valid dual type of Shigella paradysenteriae (Flexner). In the system of classification according to primary antigens previously proposed, it will have to be designated as type II.VII.
