Spontaneous Loss of Specificity of Absorbed Immune Hemagglutinating Sera

William C. Boyd, Lyle G. Boyd and Estelle R. Warshaver

From Boston University, School of Medicine, and Evans Memorial, Massachusetts Memorial Hospitals, Boston, Mass.

Abstract

Sterile absorbed immune hemagglutinating sera stored, with or without preservative, in the icebox sometimes develop non-specific agglutinating activity which may occasionally be strong enough to lessen their value as diagnostic reagents. This non-specific activity can be removed by reabsorption.
