Reactivation of Neutralized Influenza a Virus by Dilution

R. M. Taylor

From the Laboratories of the International Health Division of The Rockefeller Foundation, New York

Abstract

Mixtures of immune serum and influenza A virus which are non-infectious for mice can be made lightly infectious merely by dilution.

Reactivation of neutralized virus can be demonstrated with mixtures made either in vivo or in vitro.

Reactivation of neutral serum-virus mixtures is not complete, and approximately 90 per cent of the virus remains permanently neutralized.
