On a Rapid Method for the Standardization of Antimeningococcal Horse Serum Type I

Paul A. Little

From Lederle Laboratories, Incorporated, Pearl River, New York

Abstract

A new quantitative method for the estimation of type I antibody in antimeningococcal serum, utilizing photoelectric measurements of turbidity is presented. It is shown that the method gives a high degree of correlation with the quantitative method of Heidelberger and Kendall which has been applied by Scherp and Rake to antimeningococcal serum.

Indebtedness is acknowledged to Dr. H. W. Scherp for the Type I meningococcal polysaccharide used in this study, and to A. M. Moos of this laboratory for the chemical analyses.
