The Response to Yellow Fever Virus in the Nonsusceptible Rabbit

Loring Whitman

From the Laboratories of the International Health Division, Rockefeller Foundation, New York

Abstract

1. Rabbits do not support the development of yellow fever virus either in the brain or viscera.
2. They develop antibodies in circulation capable of passively protecting susceptible animals against infection.
3. Following a rest period a second injection of virus into a previously immunized animal produces a serum titer ten to twenty times higher than that previously obtained. This is transient.
