Migration Inhibition of Peripheral Leucocytes in Human Schistosomiasis

Abstract

Migration inhibition of peripheral leucocytes by extracts of Schistosoma mansoni was observed in individuals who showed delayed-type skin reactivity with the parasitic antigen. There was no correlation between the in vitro migration inhibition and immediate-type hypersensitivity, the presence of specific antibody to S. mansoni in the serum, nor a nonspecific serum factor. A correlation between migration inhibition of peripheral leucocytes and delayed skin reactivity was observed in individuals hypersensitive to Brucella abortus.
