The Purification of Adenovirus Neutralizing Antibody: Adenovirus Type 5 Hexon Immunoadsorbent

A. T. Haase1 and H. G. Pereira

National Institute for Medical Research, Mill Hill, London NW7 1AA, England

Abstract

Preparation of an immunoadsorbent of crystalline hexon of adenovirus type 5 bound to Sepharose is described. The immunoadsorbent was employed to purify antibody to adenovirus type 5 hexon from antiserum prepared against a mixture of the three capsid antigens. In addition, separation of antibody with type-specific neutralizing activity from group-specific non-neutralizing hexon antibody has been achieved.
