Delayed Hypersensitivity to SK-SD: In Vitro Lymphocyte Study with an Active Component

Russell H. Tomar1, Fletcher B. Taylor, Jr. and George R. Green

From the Allergy and Immunology Division, Department of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19104

Abstract

The material in streptokinase-streptodornase which elicits delayed hypersensitivity reactions in man is probably a beta globulin with a molecular weight of approximately 21,500. It is devoid of streptokinase, streptodornase, and streptolysin S activities. Its ability to stimulate lymphocytes in vitro shows good correlation with skin reactions in the same subjects.
