Abstract

An electrophoretically fast, antigenically unique rat immunoglobulin with hapten specificity has been identified and termed IgE. Monospecific antiserum for rat IgE removed from rat antiserum the biologic activities attributed to rat homocytotropic antibody. Thus, the immunoglobulin class of rat homocytotropic antibody is IgE.
