Abstract

Double diffusion experiments with antibodies to single-stranded (s-s) DNA confirmedphysicochemical data that adeno-associated satellite virions contain s-sDNA but the DNA extracted from such virions is double-stranded. Positive immunologicreactions of intact virions with sera from man and mouse with "autoimmune"disease and specifically immunized rabbits are consistent with the hypotheticalrole if viruses as immunogens or as the antigenic participants of immunecomplexvasculitis.
