Protein a from Staphylococcus Aureus

VI. Reaction with Subunits from Guinea Pig {gamma}1- and {gamma}2-Globulin1

Arne Forsgren2

From the Department of Microbiology, University of Umeå, Umeå, Sweden

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to establish which regions of guinea pig {gamma}1- and {gamma}2-globulins react with protein A from S. aureus. In each case the Fc fragment inhibited the reaction between protein A and anti-EA {gamma}1- and {gamma}2-globulin. No reactions between protein A and the Fab and F(ab')2 fragments were observed.
