Histology of PCA Reactions in Guinea Pigs

A Comparison of Reactions Produced by Guinea Pig {gamma}Gl and Rabbit Antibodies1

Department of Pathology, New York University School of Medicine, New York

Abstract

PCA reactions were produced in guinea pigs with rabbit {gamma}G- and guinea pig {gamma}G1-antibodies. The histologic picture of PCA reactions with guinea pig {gamma}G1 in guinea pigs is similar to the reaction produced with rabbit antibodies. PCA reactions with rabbit and guinea pig {gamma}G1-antibodies were partially inhibited by an antihistamine (Neo-Antergan) to the same degree. Depletion of PMN did not diminish the PCA reactions with either antibody. It has been concluded that PMN infiltration is a consequence, and not the determining factor, of PCA reactions in guinea pigs.
